Free Library: Bring books, zines, and flash-drives full of pdf’s to share! If you want to help make this reality, email us with “free library” in the subject line. (P.S we’ll need shelves! Or bins!)

Current Workshops/Teach-Ins/Discussions:

  • SECURITY CULTURE: With the FBI having flashbacks of the Green Scare, and NATO5 and the CLEVELAND 5 behind us, proper security culture is important as fuck. This teach-in will cover common-sense security culture as well as highlight certain practices and habits that can contribute to security risks, while stressing productive ways to keep paranoia at a minimum and cultivate a healthy and productive culture.
  • WHAT TO EXPECT IN PRISON (STAYING SANE IN AN INSANE SITUATION): Whether or not we ever envision ourselves behind bars, the State’s recent attacks on communities involved in various types of struggle and activism illustrate that you don’t even necessarily have to do anything wrong to end up behind bars. An activist and ex-prisoner will lead us through what to expect–from arrest and court proceedings, all the way through being put in a cage and “serving” the sentence. With an emphasis on mental preparedness, the speaker will share experience and invite others to share their stories and concerns.
  • MANAGING DISSENSUS PRODUCTIVELY [DISCUSSION]: In any community, there will be disagreements  and personal differences that can contribute to an inability to come to consensus on particular issues.  Managed productively, dissensus can lead to creative solutions and a refinement of tactics, as well as help individuals form new bonds on what they can agree with each other on. This discussion will cover topics ranging from discussing strategic disagreements, the ever-so-common phenomena of having to deal with “calling people out on their shit” in a collective or communal situation, and being able to implement practices and tactics that can mitigate social collateral damage and improve effectiveness.
  • HARD VS. SOFT OCCUPATIONS [WORKSHOP]: Let’s say we were going to–hypothetically–build a fort and play squatters/occupiers vs. fascists in a public space. How would we go about doing it? Covering everything from initial planning, scouting, and tactical discussions, to the game-day scenario of securing the space and “winning the game”. We’ll cover the basic difference between hard and soft occupations and the situations that make one tactic more beneficial to the other, as well as run through some basic methods of securing entrance-points.
